Lane’s Arrival

Saturday, August 26th, 2006

I’m sorry this has taken me so long to post … well, ok, I’m not really sorry! I’ve been kind of busy! Here’s the story of how Lane was born. Tad is right, labor didn’t go as I had expected, but I do feel like I was prepared and well-informed for the [...]

Lane Alden Gallistel

Sunday, August 20th, 2006

So after a long day Lane Alden Gallistel arrived at 9:44 pm on Saturday August 19th. He was 7 lbs, 6 ozs and 20-something inches long (in the confusion I missed the exact number).
His birth didn’t really go as Erika had planned, there was a bit more medical intervention than she had [...]

Tomorrow’s the day!

Friday, August 18th, 2006

I had my doctor’s appointment this morning at 11am. There has been no progress: I’m still only dilated ~1cm and ~50% effaced. They did do an ultrasound and the baby has grown! No longer is he “average,” he now appears to be on the big side – the ultrasound technician estimated him [...]

My Due Date

Thursday, August 17th, 2006

Ok, I’ve had a lot of questions about my due date, since the original due date was Aug. 18 (tomorrow), so by that measure the baby is not late. Here’s the deal.

No News

Thursday, August 17th, 2006

Forgot to post yesterday, not much to say — I’m still pregnant … I am leaning toward going along with the inducement this weekend, want to get this over with!

No Progress

Tuesday, August 15th, 2006

At my doctor’s appointment today, it appears there has been no progress — still only about 1cm dilated. My next appointment is on Friday 8/18. If I’m still pregnant by then, my doctor wants me to check in to the hospital on Friday night, when I’ll get a prostaglandin suppository to prepare my [...]

Another Day of Walking

Monday, August 14th, 2006

We have another day of walking planned! Yesterday we visited the Mission Hills Nursery (oldest nursery in San Diego) with Mackie & Keith to admire the beautiful plants, then took a walk around Banker’s Hill to admire the canyon bridges and old mansions. I had never done the Banker’s Hill walk before, so [...]

Daily Report

Sunday, August 13th, 2006

Not much new to report. When I’m up and about the contractions seem more frequent, but still not that frequent and not at all intense. Walking does seem to bring them on more, but it’s also tiring. We’ll continue to alternate walking and resting today.

One day late and counting

Saturday, August 12th, 2006

Yup, still pregnant. We plan to go on a nice long walk today. At the doctor’s office yesterday, my cervix is making progress — I’m a solid 1 cm now, whereas a week ago I was barely at a half cm. She said she was able to poke the [...]

Today is My Due Date!

Friday, August 11th, 2006

They say that only 5% of babies are born on their due dates, so the chance of me actually going into labor today are pretty slim. So far I’m still pregnant. My doctor’s appointment is today at 1:15pm, maybe we’ll learn something.
Rachel was here last night! She has a conference in Long [...]

Still waiting…

Thursday, August 10th, 2006

I promised to post something every day, so folks would know whether or not I’d go into labor, and I forgot yesterday. Still not in labor! Which means I’m still bugging my co-workers … I’m sure they are looking forward to me staying out of things!

Mom is Here!

Tuesday, August 8th, 2006

Any minute now! Mom is here – junior was given instructions not to make his appearance until after Mom arrived, so any time now would be fine (although his due date remains the 11th). My last day at work was the 4th, so now I am officially on maternity leave.
